The eighth annual John Franks Memorial 2-year-olds in training sale will be held March 21 at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in Louisiana. A preview show open to the public will be held prior to the sale. The sale will begin at 10 a.m. CDT with the date and starting time for the preview show to be determined.

 Named for the late multiple Eclipse Award-winning owner/breeder, the sale will again offer a pair of $100,000 races restricted to 2-year-olds who pass through the sale ring. Each event will be contested in August, 2010 at Evangeline Downs and will feature one division for fillies and one division for colts and geldings at 5 1/2 furlongs.

Last year’s sale produced total receipts of $1,736,700 for the 199 juveniles that sold. 

Entry fee is $350 with a 5% commission ($300 minimum). The entry deadline is Jan 10, 2010. Late entries will have a fee of $500 also with a 5% commission ($300 minimum). Evangeline Downs will utilize Stemmans, Inc., to handle the sale as well as the preview gallop show
