Dear Farm Manager:
The Louisiana Tech Equestrian Club is looking forward to conducting a stallion season auction through the Louisiana Tech Alumni Foundation – Equine Account. We are seeking your help!
We have scheduled the auction to be held on www.thoroughlybred.com commencing on February 9th and ending on February 14th.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used for scholarships, travel expenses and equine related educational activities. Additional information relative to the Louisiana Tech Equestrian Club and the Equine Concentration of the Animal Science Degree at Louisiana Tech University is available upon request.
Our intention is to conduct a "boutique style" stallion season auction, posting only stallions which will generate great interest. We have identified your facility and stallions as being one that has been sought after in previous auctions or has mass appeal. The season, unless otherwise specified, will be sold as a "no guarantee" season.
We hope that you will consider a donation of a stallion season to the Louisiana Tech Alumni Foundation – Equine Account. Please keep in mind that donations of sold seasons are tax deductable, however, unsold seasons are not. With this auction, the purchaser would pay the Louisiana Tech Alumni Foundation – Equine Account the agreed sum in exchange for one stallion season. Once paid, the buyer information will be forwarded to your office so that an appropriate contract can be finalized.
In order to create interest in the online auction, we would like to ask that the minimum bid be set at $100, however, we would understand if your farm would prefer to set a higher minimum bid. Also, if your farm is willing to offer a live foal guarantee (or a breeding the subsequent year if this year’s season fails to culminate in a live foal), it would be appreciated. We are also willing to stipulate "prior approval of mares by the farm manager" in the sale language to protect your assets.
Please let us know what stallion(s) your farm will be willing to donate for our equine related educational cause. I can be reached by phone at (318) 257-2462 or by e-mail at
