Breeders Sales of Louisiana Sets Dates for 2026 Preferred Yearling Sale and Mixed Sale

The LTBA Board of Directors met via conference call on Friday, January 9, 2026 for the express purpose of choosing a date for the Breeders Sales of Louisiana Annual Yearling Sale.

After considering input from consignors as well as buyers and potential buyers, the decision was made to hold a Preferred Yearling Sale Tuesday, September 1, 2026, with a separate Mixed Sale to be held Sunday, October 11, 2026.

In 2025, Breeders Sales of Louisiana held their annual yearling sale followed by a mixed session October 12th with the intention to avoid conflict with any of the other yearling sales in the region and in the nationwide. While sales were respectable, the consensus was by that late in the season, many buyers had either spent their budget earlier or had already filled their barns.

The move to September 1st puts the Breeders Sales of Louisiana Preferred Yearling Sale among the first yearling sales of the season. The board is optimistic the earlier date will give breeders in Louisiana the best opportunity to get the best price for their Louisiana Bred yearlings.

Louisiana Breds have been increasingly popular at sales around the country. Louisiana Breds have been performing exceedingly well on the national stage with a number of Graded Stakes winners and performers in recent years. Additionally, the Louisiana Breeders Awards program, continues to get more lucrative making our product especially attractive to the smart investor.
